Marko has every confidence in Verstappen despite lack of rhythm
- GPblog.com
Where many drivers have recently entered an older Formula 1 car or have driven a piece in the new car for promotional purposes, Max Verstappen hasn't been in a Formula 1 car since the winter tests. Helmut Marko does not expect this to cause any problems and the Dutchman will be up to level within a few laps.
No movie day for Verstappen
Last week it was Alexander Albon's neighborhood to drive some laps in the new RB16 for a filming day. Max Verstappen let the day pass him by because of the quarantine period that all visitors have to enter as soon as they set foot on British soil. Preferably two weeks inside before you can go outside again.
Advisor of Red Bull tells Speedweek that he doesn't see the lack of rhythm as a problem for his Dutch driver: "That's why he is Max. He sits down and within three laps he's back up to speed". So Marko doesn't think it's a problem that Verstappen has mainly been working on the sim lately and hasn't been in quarantine in England for the filming day.
Breathe
This week all teams will travel to the Red Bull Ring in Austria where the season will open for the next two weeks. Marko lets us know again how clear and strict the rules are. Everything for a flawless weekend within the rules of the corona policy in Austria. With a sense of understatement, the 77-year-old says: "Breathing in and breathing out is already being kept up to date. As hosts we will be very careful", concludes the Austrian.
