''Red Bull Racing can still make a lot of steps during this season''

Red Bull Racing and Mercedes are the two favourites for the title in 2020, but what has Red Bull done now that they have made the step to the top team of recent years? Mark Hughes figured it out.
Mercedes as an example
In recent years Mercedes was always a few steps ahead of the competition. If it wasn't the engine, it was the chassis or aerodynamics where the German team managed to make the difference. For 2020, however, Red Bull has taken a big step and that is due to an aggressive new design by Adrian Newey.
''Mercedes was always good in fast corners and Red Bull in slow corners, but in 2019 Mercedes all-round was the best because of the narrower nose. Red Bull has now taken over, but that's not easy. That's an aggressive choice of Red Bull, which can be very positive," said Sky Sports journalist Hughes.
Red Bull in the attack
''Actually, this season's car would only last one year, so Red Bull's choice of such a different design is bold. Ferrari stuck to the old design and will notice that. Red Bull will therefore still be able to develop very strongly throughout the year, because the concept is new and they still have a lot to learn about it'', says Hughes, who also sees that the new design will be linked to the high rake concept that we are used to from Newey.
''With possible major updates from Honda, it cannot be ruled out that Max Verstappen will have a great start to his season. Red Bull is also lucky with the first three races in the field where they were good in the past and with the limited calendar, a good start may ensure a world title'', concludes Hughes.
