Daniel Abt gets a second chance in Formula E after sim racing debacle
- GPblog.com
Daniel Abbot didn't make it during the corona break. The driver was accused of foul play during a sim race. As a 'joke' Abt had made an appointment with a professional simracer who would drive the race for him. Abt, however, lost his seat with the Audi Formula E team, because they thought it was too serious an offence.
The rescue team for Abt
Luckily for Abt he gets a new chance in Formula E. The team of NIO 333 gives the German driver a chance to finish the season for them during the last races of this year.
"I take full responsibility for what happened during the Race at Home Challenge, it was a mistake", says Abt quoted by RTL Nieuws. "Now it's time for me to look ahead and do what I love most: racing."
Six home races
At NIO 333, Abbot will drive together with Oliver Turvey. Abt says he is very happy with the new opportunity and that he can finish the season with six home races. "I just want to do my best for the team and finish the season as good as possible."
