Villeneuve: "He's fast, but no Max Verstappen"

After the departure of Sebastian Vettel, Carlos Sainz will join Ferrari in 2021. The Spaniard will have to help with Charles Leclerc Ferrari towards a new title. Jacques Villeneuve thinks that Ferrari has made a wise choice with Sainz.
No problems with teammates
"Carlos Sainz is no Max Verstappen, but he is one who is quick", says Villeneuve in conversation with La Gazzetta dello Sport. "He doesn't give a teammate any problems and besides that he has a name that counts."
According to Villeneuve that is exactly what Ferrari wants. "With Sainz and Leclerc they want to create a situation like in the days of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. It shouldn't be forgotten that the name of a driver also counts, at the end of the journey the car brands have to sell cars anyway."
Daniel Ricciardo
By the way, Villeneuve says that Daniel Ricciardo has not been an option for the second Ferrari seat. "He already brought Renault too much work and in the past there have been some difficult relationships with teammates like Verstappen and Vettel. Sainz had no problems with Lando Norris at McLaren and that made Ferrari want him. There is already enough fire at Ferrari."
