Mol pulls out to Ferrari: ''What a yanking story of Binotto''
- GPblog.com
Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari perfomed very disappointed during the Austrian Grand Prix. This years Ferrar is clearly not fast enough and Vettel once again made driver mistakes at critical moments.
No revival of Vettel
''I thought Vettel would have regained his confidence, but then he starts a bit further from behind and things go wrong. He has to push and then he dives into a hole that isn't there'', says Christijan Albers in the podcast F1 aan Tafel of Grand Prix Radio. Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, managed to win a second place.
But that can't hide the fact that there are big problems for Ferrari. The team has not been itself since the FIA statement in 2019. Since it can no longer use the trick with the engine, the team has never been on pole. With more downforce on the car in 2020, the problem has only increased.
Yankee story
''Mattia Binotto's yanking story is that they are now seven tenths short on the straight. No, last year the competition suddenly ran out of time on the straight because they cheated. Then you shouldn't be beating around the bush now. It's not strange that with an underperforming engine and more downforce you suddenly go slower. Then you're just the buck'', Mol concludes.
Ferrari is said to be coming to Austria with the planned update for Hungary. The problems are greater than the team expected and is now rushing to finish the updates earlier. The question is whether that will cause more problems, or whether it will actually help to take a step forward.
