Verstappen: "We can't go anywhere"
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen was, for his part, extremely calm on the boardradio when his Red Bull broke down last weekend. It was his first DNF since Japan 2019. Verstappen found himself in a promising position for victory, but left with 0 points. Verstappen seems to have put himself over the dramatic weekend.
"I feel good, but of course the result wasn't what we wanted, scoring a good amount of points and fighting for victory. I looked good for a podium that I thought was easily possible, because it was basically between Mercedes and myself at a rough pace". says Verstappen on a Q&A from Red Bull.
The odds for this weekend
Despite the big disappointment, Verstappen had quickly resigned himself to losing last weekend: "I relaxed a bit on Monday and then I talked to the technicians and we went through some ideas for the weekend. We also had a Team BBQ last night, which was a good way to have some fun in our Team-Bubble, because we have nowhere else to go".
Verstappen is clearly 100% focused on the next weekend. He therefore also sees good opportunities for his team: "We have ideas and the direction in which we have to work for this weekend, so that's positive. Our pace is usually a bit better in the race than in qualifying, but there is still a lot of work for the technicians to do". And with the rain forecast for this weekend, Verstappen smells blood: "I'm not sure if anyone knows how competitive they are in the wet conditions with these new cars, so that could be interesting".
