LIVE FP1: Styrian Grand Prix - Mercedes to dominate again?
- GPblog.com
After last Sunday's spectacular race we are back at the Red Bull Ring in Austria this weekend for the second Grand Prix of the 2020 season. Due to the regulations this Grand Prix has a different name, but for the rest it's all exactly the same as last week starting with the first free practice session.
Technical Problems
The first Grand Prix of the season had quite a few incidents and especially the reliability of the cars was a problem for many teams. Mercedes suffered from the vibrations caused by the kerbstones, which had a lot of effect on the gearbox. Verstappen fell out due to a small problem and Kimi Raikkonen's right front wheel suddenly took off.
Each team had some problems during the first Grand Prix of the season. Teething problems that of course have to be solved as soon as possible and given that it's only five days ago that the race took place, it's interesting to see how everything is going now. The teams have worked hard to solve everything, but is that enough?
Faster Red Bull?
The distance between Mercedes and Red Bull Racing seemed a bit significant last weekend, but with some adjustments and a better balance in the car Max Verstappen should now be able to get closer. The first free practice doesn't say everything about where everyone will be on Sunday, but it promises to be another very interesting session.
