LIVE FP2: Grand Prix Steiermark
- GPblog.com
After the first free practice session on the Red Bull Ring earlier today in preparation for the second Grand Prix of the season, the moment for the second free practice session has arrived. Some teams have made several adjustments and improvements to the cars to avoid a repeat of last weekend. During practice we might get a glimpse of how these changes have worked.
Rusty
Last weekend it became clear that everything was a bit rusty, a lot of technical defects. Only 11 drivers completed the race. The drivers didn't seem to be bothered by anything, because they drove at the cutting edge.
The work is mainly in the cars and although qualifying tomorrow will really show whether there are teams that have made improvements - which are effective enough - it's now time for the second free practice session.
Heavy rain is forecast for the duration of Saturday. The times recorded in FP2 will be used to form the grid should qualifying be cancelled.
Red Bull now?
Max Verstappen's team had a not too good weekend last weekend. The Dutchman dropped out and Albon fell far back after a spin through a touché with Hamilton. So the Red Bull drivers will be extra keen to get over the finish line in good positions this weekend, but will they be able to do so?
The next hour and a half there will be a lot of riding on the Red Bull Ring again and in this live blog, we'll keep you informed of all events.
