Hamilton happy with return strong Alonso: ''Experience certainly helps at Renault'

With the return of Fernando Alonso in 2021, Lewis Hamilton is assured that he is not the oldest driver on the grid. Should Kimi Raikkonen leave, Alonso will take over as the oldest driver in F1.
''Experience is very important, especially when you're on a team like Renault. Every team tries to make the step forward and experience can help you find the right direction. I don't know yet what it's like to be 40, but Michael Schumacher also did very well at that age. I have no doubts that Fernando will be strong when he returns," said Hamilton at the press conference.
Tips from Hamilton
The return of Alonso has another advantage, because Lewis drops a spot on the 'age list' of Formula 1. ''The bonus for me is that I'm the third in line quo age and thus win a spot, that's great'', jokes the Briton who would think it would be a shame if Sebastian Vettel leaves Formula 1.
Hamilton is one of the few drivers who could make the Alonso difficult as a teammate. He even did so in his first year in Formula 1 and is therefore asked for an opinion for Esteban Ocon. ''He must keep his head down, keep going and not get distracted," said the Mercedes driver.
