Verstappen jokes: "For the time being, I'm on pole!"
Max Verstappen had a very strong Friday afternoon at the Austrian Grand Prix. The Dutchman managed to put his Red Bull Racing RB16 at the top of the time sheet after an hour and a half on FP2.
Verstappen very happy
"So far, it's much better. The direction we took seems to be the right one," said Verstappen to Sky Sports F1 after the second free practice session. Verstappen started his season badly after a breakdown at the first Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring.
There is also a chance that due to the heavy rain that is expected that the qualifying session on Saturday will not take place. "For now, I am the provisional pole," Verstappen laughs. "We'll see tomorrow if we can do the qualifying. But I think if we can't do it, we'll do it on Sunday morning."
Step in the right direction
Verstappen is very pleased with his car this weekend. "We had a much better feeling than last Friday. We learned more about the car. We weren't so happy last week, that's why we tried to fix some things.
"I don't know if we have the right package to win the race, we'll find out on Sunday," Verstappen said.
