F1 is looking at the possibility to qualify on Sunday
- GPblog.com
The third free practice session at the Red Bull Ring today has already been cancelled and it is questionable whether the qualification scheduled for later in the afternoon can continue. This mainly depends on the medical helicopter.
Helicopter a big problem
"Right now, our primary receiving hospital is an hour and a half away when we cross the road to Graz. And the medical helicopter can't fly at the moment because of the incoming cloud", Michael Masi informs the BBC.
"So with the medical helicopter being unable to take off, that’s another factor in the equation, and we wouldn’t start any session without that possibility at this venue – obviously it’s different case by case", continues Masi.
Reorganization of Sunday
According to Masi, Formula 1 is already busy changing Sunday's schedule. Room will be made to qualify at 10:00 in the morning, which could mean that the F2 sprint race and a Porsche supercup race will be cancelled.
The rain will decrease somewhat in Austria from 14:00, but will not stop completely. Also the track is still soaking wet and will not be dry just like that.

Rain intensity will very likely ease from 14:00 CEST on. However, afterwards periods of moderate or strong rain are still possible.
