A wet qualification is always quite a challenge. Christian Horner is therefore pleased with the performance of his drivers and the work done by the team.
The qualifying duel that was fought by Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen for the Steiermark Grand Prix was finally won by the Brit. Yet Horner is proud of the Dutchman. "Qualifying in these weather conditions is very tricky but Max did a great job."
"He lost a lot of time on his last lap when he came across Sebastian who was coming into the pits, otherwise he would have been a lot closer to Lewis but I don't think he would have beaten him on that lap," the team boss said honestly in the Team Review after qualifying.
Strategy and teamwork
According to Horner, not only his drivers did a good job, but also the team. "The team did a good job today, working with the drivers to help them because they can't see what is going on around them with all the spray in these weather conditions."
"Tomorrow will come down to strategy and race pace so let's hope we can convert these grid positions into good results, but I hope the rain clears and we see the Austrian sunshine return," Horner concluded.
