Max Verstappen made an ultimate attempt to attack Lewis Hamilton's top time in the final stages of qualifying for the Styrian Grand Prix. In the last sector however it went wrong and with a nice drift he saw his hopes for pole position dashed. At first this led to frustration, but immediately afterwards to resignation.

"Aaargh, for f*ck sake", it sounds like Verstappen slipping over the track at a 90 degree angle. The team then asks if it was Sebastian Vettel who pushed him off the track, but the Dutchman reacts soberly and in denial.

Horner and Verstappen think differently about opportunities

"No, this just happens when you run into the kerbs, fuck! There was a car, but I don't know who it was. There were so many rivers on the track and I just had a lot of aquaplaning."

Horner comes on the radio to give Verstappen a boost. The driver himself thinks he couldn't have driven the time of Hamilton, but the team boss calculates that it could have been exciting. "You were right on time."
