Raikkonen bales after missed point due to lack of gasoline

Antonio Giovinazzi won the first points for Alfa Romeo at the Austrian Grand Prix and Kimi Raikkonen was close to points during the Styrian Grand Prix. However, a shortage of fuel prevented a top 10 finish.
''The fact that we almost finished in the top ten shows that we are working towards the right direction," said Frederic Vasseur after the race against Sky Sports. Kimi Raikkonen himself was satisfied with the speed of the car which, like those of Haas and Ferrari, is slower than in 2019, but hates the conditions.
Raikkonen annoyed
''In the last twenty laps I was only saving fuel, so I wasn't able to close the gap to Daniil Kvyat. With our normal pace we could have scored some points'', Raikkonen said who looked visibly disappointed afterwards. The Finn was close to his first points since 2020, but apparently he didn't have enough fuel.
Alfa Romeo didn't want to respond to this himself, but called it 'circumstances during the race that prevented Kimi from getting a point'. Alfa Romeo fought with Haas throughout the race for the places just behind the points, but came very close to Kvyat's tenth place. Even though Raikkonen had to save fuel for twenty laps, he was still able to finish eigth seconds ahead of Daniil Kvyat.
