Brawn: "Red Bull needs to catch up quickly on Mercedes"
- GPblog.com
For Red Bull Racing last weekend was an exciting weekend. They came to the Hungaroring with high expectations, during the free practice and qualifying it became clear that they still have a huge backlog and in the end they managed to get a podium place in the Grand Prix. Ross Brawn also sees the weekend of Red Bull and he describes it as a weekend with highs and lows.
"When you're running to catch up with someone, you might fall. That's exactly what's going on with Red Bull right now. They've made a huge effort to improve technically, but it seems that some updates just don't work," Brawn explains in his column at Formula1.com.
They need to catch up quickly
"When you work at such a fast pace, you may run into problems and we have seen that they had problems in the build-up to the Hungarian Grand Prix. They are an experienced team, with a lot of possibilities. Luckily they have recovered on Sunday, but they have to catch up very quickly", Brawn otherwise expects Mercedes to take off easily with the title.
"They showed their depth and precision on Sunday, when they had to repair Max's car, with the start of the race fast approaching. It was great to see. I've seen such recoveries in the past, but not so public because it was in the garage, but it's an impressive achievement since you don't see it very often", concluded Brawn.
