'Nürburgring returns to the F1 calendar this year'
- GPblog.com
The Formula 1 calendar for 2020 is still not completely final, which is complicated by the corona pandemic. For the time being, we are still in Europe and it seems that the European calendar will become a bit longer. One of the circuits that is now mentioned is the Nürburgring.
Conversations with F1 about return
RaceFans report that they have been informed that the Nürburgring belongs to the next series of circuits that will be added to the revised calendar for 2020. A representative of the circuit would have confirmed to the site that they have had talks with Formula 1 about a return of the circuit.
After the Grand Prix in Russia, the race should take place at the Nürburgring, followed by races in Portugal at Portimao and concluding with Imola in Italy. How the calendar will look afterwards is still uncertain. Racing in North and South America was planned, but the chances for that now seem to decrease.
No Hockenheim...?
By the way, the choice for the Nürburgring is remarkable, because Hockenheim has been in the news many times as an alternative circuit on the adjusted calendar. Since that circuit is not mentioned now, it seems - provided it is correct - that the choice has fallen on the circuit in the Green Hell.
