Definitely no Grand Prix at Hockenheim
- GPblog.com
For quite some time Hockenheim was on the sidelines ready to jump in as an optional circuit to organise a Formula 1 race in 2020. Yesterday the news spread that not Hockenheim, but the Nürburgring will most likely return on the calendar this year. Although that has not yet been confirmed, it is certain that there will be no race at Hockenheim in 2020.
Definitely no race at Hockenheim
Circuit director Jorn Teske tells DPA that there will definitely not be a Grand Prix on the German circuit. The condition was that this race would be held in public, but the regulations of the municipality of Baden-Wurttemberg do not allow this and therefore the race is off the track.
Jorn Teske says that the circuit and Formula 1 did not come closer together in the discussions. That together with the coronapandemic regulations now ensures that it is completely off the track. This will also make the eyes more focused on the Nürburgring, which - if the rumours are true - is still in the race for a Grand Prix this year.
