Things haven't been going well for the Williams team the last couple of seasons. Still, Claire Williams has ambitious plans for George Russell.
It's no secret that Russell is eager to make the switch to Mercedes, to fight for the title there. At the moment the young Brit will have to do it with Williams however, who remains one of the backmarkers for the time being.
Despite the prospects, Claire Williams has big plans for the talented driver. "I'm going to do everything I can to make George a world champion at Williams," says the team boss at the F1 Nation podcast.
Good learning process for Russell
"George has a personality all his own, but when it comes to his raw talent. I'm very pleased that he's driving for the Williams team. He has learned with us that a driver has to be able to carry a team on his hands. Especially when things aren't going well", Williams continues.
The learning process with the team is also an important lesson according to the team boss if he wants to win the title in the future. "It makes him stronger in the end. He didn't have it easy last season, but that only makes him a better driver in the future", Claire Williams concludes.
