Promotor GP Brazil furious after cancellation: "Making up a reason"
- GPblog.com
Tamas Rohonyi, the promoter of the Brazilian Grand Prix, is furious that Formula 1 owner Liberty Media cancelled the race at Interlagos. According to Rohonyi, the arguments that led to this decision are unacceptable.
The regulations state that a race may only be cancelled in case of force majeure, which is not the case according to Rohonyi. He tells that in conversation with Motorsport.com. "Things are going better in São Paulo than in the rest of Brazil and relatively speaking also better than in England. If you then read their reason, it almost seems that they have thought of something to cancel the race".
2.3 million contaminations
Brazil is one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus, with 2.3 million infections. The United States also has many casualties, so Formula 1 has decided not to organize American races. This means that there is also a line through the Grands Prix of Mexico and Canada. Earlier the mayor of São Paulo indicated that Brazil could have organised a race.
