OFFICIAL: Hulkenberg replaces Perez at Racing Point during British Grand Prix
- GPblog.com
Nico Hulkenberg temporarily returns to Formula 1. Racing Point has just announced that the German will return to the team for two races to replace Sergio Perez who was infected with the coronavirus.
Hulkenberg returns
On Friday morning it already became clear that Racing Point had a clear preference for who should replace the Mexican. Between 2011 and 2016 Hulkenberg had been driving for the team for five seasons and so the team knows what the team will get for the driver. With Mercedes reserves Esteban Guttierez and Stoffel Vandoorne that was a bigger question mark.
With the return there is still a big chance for the man who has never been on the F1 podium before. Hulkenberg was given a number of chances, but never managed to cash them in. With the 'pink Mercedes' at Silverstone this could be the chance of his life on a podium, or will he be fourth for the umpteenth time?
