Norris rises above himself: "I certainly didn't expect this"

Lando Norris again drove well during Saturday's F1 qualifying session, resulting in a fifth-place start for the British Grand Prix. The fifth place was more than the Brit himself had expected.
"There was absolutely nothing more in there than this. I didn't really have that much hope during Q1 and Q2, but in Q3 I came into a good rhythm. It was just very difficult today with that wind, but I was able to do better than I expected," says Norris, who is asked by Paul di Resta to explain to the viewers what makes it so difficult in the wind.

''You're paid to ride at the limit, but with so much downforce we have these days, a little wind can ruin the whole downforce. So you can drive one lap great, to think the next lap that your car can't be driven. It's very difficult to do that, but before qualifying, you sit down for it and it paid off," said the Brit to Sky Sports.
On Sunday Norris will have to start on the red tyre, where many competitors are allowed to start on the medium tyre. "It depends on what the weather does. The colder temperature can help us. The goal is to maintain our position, but the Ferrari behind us seemed a little faster in terms of racing space," concludes the McLaren driver.
