Verstappen has no regrets about chosen career path
- GPblog.com
At 22, Max Verstappen is still very young, but he has already achieved a lot in Formula 1. In the meantime he has collected 1000 points, has been on the podium many times and has set several records. The crowning glory would be the youngest world champion ever, but that hope seems to be slowly fading. Yet Verstappen has absolutely no regrets about his chosen career path.
Highs and lows
Verstappen has been driving for Red Bull Racing since 2016 and the team promised him several times a car with which he could really fight. Certainly in 2020 that should have been the case, but unfortunately the reality is different. Now that's a lot of factors together that make this happen, it's more complex than simply pointing out one negative point. Still, it can be quite frustrating, but Verstappen always remains realistic.
Channel 4 asked Verstappen if he regrets joining the Red Bull program, but the Dutchman is brief about that: "No regrets", after which he continues: "I think things need to happen. Bad things need to happen for me to become a better driver. I’m all good so no regrets."
Experienced a lot
Through the years Verstappen has of course experienced a lot with the team. Many highlights, but also some lows. That makes for a better bond. "Obviously the relationship is different now to what it was when I first joined the team. Now we have experienced a lot of good and bad things together and that helps us have a stronger connection."
"You could really see that last year [2019] where we had some critical calls. We had some really good communication and we understood each other. I don’t even need to look at the data any more because we know exactly what we want", which means that Verstappen points out that he and his team are completely attuned to each other and that's also worth something.
