Marko: "Albon still has a lack of self-confidence, but is improving"

For Alex Albon, the second qualifying session at Silverstone is a small improvement compared to last week. The Thai obtained the ninth place, where he was twelfth last week. It's an improvement, but there is still a lot of work to do before Albon performs really well. According to Helmut Marko Albon doesn't have to fear for his seat at Red Bull Racing yet.
"As long as we see improvements at Albon and as long as the results get better, he gets the time from us", Marko tells Sky Sports. The Thai has also had a lot of bad luck so far, due to accidents with Kevin Magnussen in Silverstone and a crash with Lewis Hamilton in Austria. Albon had a good chance of a podium in that race.
Time needed for stability
"Alex has had many accidents so far, such as engine trouble and the Hamilton accident. As a result, he still has a little lack of self-confidence". Red Bull's advisor indicates that he sees the potential in the young driver and that the potential is slowly becoming visible on the track.
"He has the speed. In his third stint in Silverstone, he set the fastest lap times, but I think it's clear he's still young and inexperienced. He still needs time to create more stability," Marko concluded.
