Netflix spent the past two years in the paddock with cameramen for the recordings of Drive to Survive. This year the whole season is different and therefore extra interesting for yet another new docuseries. Race fans already knew earlier that Netflix would 'just' be present in the paddock and that has now been officially confirmed by Formula 1.

Drive to Survive is success story

The entire Formula 1 has been scaled back because of the coronary pandemic. As a result, teams are present on the circuits in a slimmed-down form and the possibilities for the media are also very limited. Netflix is one of the few media that has been at every race so far, because Formula 1 sees it as a success.

Chase Carey of Liberty Media said on Monday in a media session attended by Racefans that the streaming service is working on a third season. "Due to the strong results of the first two seasons of Netflix' Drive to Survive, the film crews are already filming the third season."

In the first race of the season Netflix ran with Red Bull Racing and McLaren. Which teams they filmed more in the following races is not known. It is expected that the third season will be offered at Netflix just before the start of the 2021 season, based on the releases of the previous two seasons.
