Lammers: 'On new circuits, Verstappen can make a difference'

Jan Lammers believes that the discussions between Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing on the onboard radio during the Spanish Grand Prix are good. The analyst argues that this keeps the entire team focused. Lammers further states that Verstappen can make a difference with Mercedes on the 'new' circuits Portimao, Imola, Mugello and the Nürburgring.
"That's lovely. Once it runs, you see that they are very fanatical towards each other. This is just keeping each other on edge. That relationship can easily handle that, too. That's fantastic. Nobody leaves a thousandth of a second, they're on top of it", says Lammers at NOS Studio Sport.
The sports director of the DutchGP suspects that Mercedes is about three to four tenths faster than the RB16. "On all circuits where we normally go, the stand will be the same. On the circuits where they haven't driven yet there is little experience", says Lammers. There is almost no data available so more of the drivers will have to come in terms of feedback for example.
And that's where Verstappen comes in. "Max can still make a difference compared to all that data. He can make a little bit of a difference there. I think he has a chance there. But the difference between Red Bull and Mercedes is still there."
