"Enzo Ferrari would've handled Vettel's departure differently"

Although the relationship between Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari is still considered positive by the team, there has been some visible friction between the two parties in recent months. Especially by the way in which Vettel has been put aside.
Team boss Mattia Binotto in particular came in for a lot of criticism. Instead of a simple phone call saying that Vettel's contract wasn't going to be renewed, Binotto should have sat down with the four-time world champion.
Mauro Forghieri, the legendary technical man at Ferrari when Enzo was still in charge there, also thinks things could have been different. Enzo would certainly have handled this differently according to him. "I'm sure he would have treated Seb's farewell differently, that he deserved a more respectful treatment", he says to journalist Leo Turrini for Quotidiano.net.
Not envy for Leclerc and Binotto
Nevertheless, he also understands Binotto's position and is therefore not in favour of a revolution within the company. According to him, Ferrari just needs to attract some extra people to take some work off Binotto's hands. He is also cautious about the pioneering role that Ferrari has given to Leclerc.
"The boy is very talented. But Ferrari shouldn't have burdened him with so many responsibilities so soon, we are talking about a young man who hasn't even raced 50 Grands Prix".
