He returned to Formula 1 for two races in 2020 and hopes to return fully to the top of motorsport in 2021. However, today is a celebration, as Nico Hulkenberg can celebrate his 33rd birthday.

Hulkenberg drove his last full season of Formula 1 for Renault in 2019. The German had to make way for Esteban Ocon and didn't manage to end up with a seat for the 2020 Formula 1 season. Hulkenberg ended up spending nine seasons in the sport, where he holds the dubious record of most races without ever finishing on the podium.

Yet Hulkenberg is a beloved driver on the paddock. The German has made a great impression over the years, but always missed just that little bit of luck when it came to a podium. His last victory in the formula cars dates back to 2009, when he became champion in GP2 (the current Formula 2).

His return in 2020 made everyone (except Sergio Perez) happy. The German then also announced a return to the sport. Alfa Romeo and Haas are serious candidates, but does the German want to get in there now, as the teams are driving at the back of the field?
