Albon: "Was extremely difficult to catch up with Renault, with DRS we are equal to
For Alexander Albon, the Belgian Grand Prix did not go quite as expected. The Thai of Red Bull Racing started in fifth place, but eventually dropped back to sixth place due to a late overtake by Esteban Ocon. Albon himself is not completely satisfied with today's performance.
"The mediums were not quite the right choice, but I have no idea. It felt great on the softest band but I don't know if I could overtake both Renaults in that situation, because they were the same as us with DRS," Albon explains to Sky Sports.
Tyres ran out at the end of the race
"So it was extremely difficult to really do anything. When we went to the mediums it was better for a while, and I was still trying to catch up as much as I could. I also had to push a lot to stay within the DRS, so it was pretty frustrating because the tyres were really worn out at the end of the race. It was our own decision to go to the hardest tyre, but that's also because the team has a lot of data," Albon concludes.
