Wolff looks ahead to Grand Prix Italy: "Qualifying particularly important"

With Ferrari in its current form, Mercedes looks like the dead favourite on the Monza high-speed circuit. It is not for nothing that the circuit is called the 'Temple of Speed' and the engine power is very important here.
As of this weekend teams will only be allowed to drive with one engine mode and it will be interesting to see what the influence of the abolition of the 'party mode' will be. "Both the power sensitivity and the importance of qualifying make Monza a perfect circuit to test the impact of the new technical directive", says Tot Wolff in Monza's Mercedes Preview. "It limits the use of engine modes, requiring teams to run the same ICE mode in qualifying and the race".
The Mercedes team boss is therefore very keen to see what the consequences will be. "It is interesting to see what both absolute and relative ratios will be now. Both on Fridays and Saturdays. In any case, we are eager to take up this challenge and make sure it will be to our advantage". In previous years the Italian Grand Prix was more often won from pole position than not.
