WC Standings: Verstappen loses spot; fierce battle for fourth place
The results at the Italian Grand Prix is one to be framed and put on the fireplace. Whoever predicted this podium will now be rich and this also means that some drivers have made nice jumps in the rankings.
The biggest jump will, of course, be made by winner Pierre Gasly. With his victory, he now joins the top group of drivers and is within five points of Alexander Albon, his direct competitor for a return drive at Red Bull Racing.
Youngsters benefit from misery at Ferrari
Two other drivers doing good business are Lance Stroll and Lando Norris. Norris has been around the top five since the start of the season and has managed to maintain a good fourth place here. Stroll has added a podium to his results this season, earning points every time since the second race in Austria.
The big losers are, of course, today's drop outs. Verstappen loses second place to Valtteri Bottas, but the damage was not too bad due to a Mercedes' bad race. Ferrari is sinking to the bottom. Vettel is back in thirteenth place.
