Mick Schumacher's win at Monza last weekend helps the rumour machine get back on its feet. Will Michael Schumacher's son make the switch to Formula 1 next season? Former F1 driver Vitaly Petrov thinks so.
The win in Italy was his first this season, resulting in a second place in the championship. The Formula 2 championship is currently led by Briton Callum Ilott with Russian Robert Shwartzman in third place. All three drivers fall within Ferrari's training programme, which gives the battle load.
"We see here the battle for a place in Formula 1, with possible seats at Alfa Romeo and Haas," said Petrov to the Russian press agency TASS. "All three are very strong, but the name Mick Schumacher is on everyone's lips. If Schumacher wins the championship, he is guaranteed to be in Formula 1 next year".
