McLaren had a great weekend in Monza. Thanks to a podium place with Carlos Sainz and a fourth place with Lando Norris there were a lot of points for the championship. Nevertheless, team boss Andreas Seidl expects that they have the third place in their hands for good. Racing Point is also very strong and McLaren expects that they will have to give up third place in the championship.
"If you look purely at the potential, Racing Point's car is a lot faster than ours. We can certainly fight it and we will do so until the last race," Seidl explains. Motorsport.com. "I think that as a team, with our drivers and the developments we are still designing, we can certainly fight".
Close together this weekend
This weekend the F1 paddock will go to Mugello, where they will ride a Grand Prix for the first time. McLaren expects to be strong there again. "On paper this is a circuit that suits us. However, it is difficult to estimate, because a lot of updates are expected from everyone". In Monza McLaren drove for the victory and this weekend the team will hope to perform well again.
"Racing Point will be fast and Ferrari has also shown that they can perform well on circuits like this". So Seidl expects an image that we have often seen during the last Grands Prix. "It will be very close this weekend", Seidl concludes.
