Toto Wolff doesn't dare say much about the pace during the weekend at Mugello. According to the Mercedes boss, everyone was still getting to know the Italian track during FP1. Wolff also discusses Vettel's switch to Aston Martin and his own future at Mercedes.

"You can clearly see in the first session that people were learning and it's tricky. You need to learn your limits at the two Arrabbiata... and it's tricky for us also," says Wolff in conversation with Sky Sports.

The Austrian then goes into his own future at the German race stable. "I want to stay with Mercedes, I get on with Ola Kallenius and I love the guys here," he says about his rumoured move to Aston Martin. It is possible that we will see Wolff in a different role than that of team boss in the future.

Wolff also adds that Lewis Hamilton's future at Mercedes is not linked to his own. "We have become friends. We look at what the other is doing, but it's not decisive," said Wolff, who is happy that Sebastian Vettel has been retained for the royal class of motor racing. "It is great for Formula 1 that he stays. He is one of the most successful drivers. He is going to give Aston Martin a lot of knowledge. Lance continues to improve. He is at a super level now."
