Norris: “We know we’ve got our work cut out for us”

This weekend is already the tenth Grand Prix of the season on the calendar. After 9 races in 11 weeks, the teams were happy with a weekend of rest, but now everyone has to get back to it. So is Lando Norris, who looks ahead to the race in Sochi.
"The schedule is looking a bit more ‘normal’ for the next few races after three triple-headers", Norris sighs on McLaren's website. "Having time to recharge after nine races in 11 weeks was needed but I’m ready to go again." The British driver has had an excellent season so far and only in Hungary did he not manage to score any points. He is currently in fourth place in the championship with 65 points.
Competition in midfield
However, the backlog with its closest assailants is small. Alexander Albon (63 points), Lance Stroll (57 points) and Daniel Ricciardo (53 points) are on his heels, Norris himself realises. "We know we’ve got our work cut out for us with the midfield competition being so close, but hopefully we can hit the ground running right from FP1 on Friday.”
Norris is also happy that, following Mugello, there will be fans in the stands again. "It’ll be great to have fans back in the grandstands again in Russia to cheer us on. Of course, the priority is to ensure they enjoy the race safely, and we want to put on the best show we can for them.”
