Daniel Ricciardo, who is going to leave Renault for McLaren at the end of this season, has admitted he is doing all he can to live up to his promises despite his departure to McLaren at the end of the season.
When Ricciardo announced his departure from Renault, he promised to do everything he could to help the French team until his departure. "There were quite a few emotions when I announced my departure, that was to be expected," he said in the press conference on Thursday. "The most important thing for me was to make it clear to the team that I will continue to give everything.
"Help Renault move forward"
"And when you say something like that, whether in person or over the phone, you have to live up to your words. I did, and when we got back on the track the team saw that I kept my word and that I am doing everything I can to help Renault move forward," said the 31 year old Australian.
"We get along well, and I've never seen a grown man so happy to get a tattoo," Ricciardo said of the bet he has with his team boss Abiteboul. When the Australian reaches the podium, the team boss gets a tattoo. "The atmosphere within the team is very good, especially now that Fernando Alonso is coming back to Renault. That is of course exciting for the team and the sport as a whole".
