According to Jan Lammers, Max Verstappen had already played several scenarios in his head regarding the first turn. Verstappen did not have a perfect start because of wheel spin.

Verstappen never stops

"We're blessed with Max, he's chasing you all the way to the parc fermé. He just keeps racing until he sits in the hotel room, so to speak," says Lammers at NOS Studio Sport. Lammers finds it a pity that Lewis Hamilton lets his head hang a little too fast when it's against him, unlike Verstappen.

Analysis of the start

After that, the sports director of Circuit Zandvoort analyses the start of Verstappen. "A fraction too much wheel spin perhaps, but that start was not very bad. You don't look very good on the right-hand side in terms of grip either."

Verstappen did not make the first corner and had to drive between the signs to get safely back on the track. "He immediately gave full throttle when he skipped that corner," says Lammers. "Max is not someone who starts first and only then makes a plan. He really did have it in his head beforehand that he could do that."
