Between Friday 25 September and Thursday 01 October, almost two thousand corona tests were again carried out in the paddock. This covers drivers, teams and other staff. A total of ten people were tested positive. In all cases they were ancillary staff.

Never before have so many people tested positive for the coronavirus during a Formula 1 Grand Prix. The previous record was seven positive tests. The FIA states that the admission of fans has not led to more positive tests being reported now than before.

Fans have nothing to do with the increasing number of infections

"Their presence has not affected that situation as the public was not allowed to enter the F1 bubble as per our protocol in force", according to a statement by the international motor sport federation.

Whereas in Mugello some three thousand spectators were admitted, last week there were already 30,000 in Russia. Next weekend, 20,000 people will be present at the Nurburgring. In Portugal on the circuit of Portimao, 45,000 people are aiming for an audience.
