The first day of the Eifel Grand Prix literally and figuratively fell into the water. Due to the severe weather conditions it was not possible to drive at the Nürburgring. The forecast for Saturday and Sunday of the GP weekend are more favourable. Most of the precipitation has fallen and the fog will clear.

The first and second free practice sessions could not take place because of the rain and dense fog. Visibility was so poor that the medical helicopters could not take to the air. The regulations in Formula 1 require that an ambulance must be able to reach a hospital within twenty minutes, but these conditions could not be met on the German circuit.

So the F1 drivers could not test on the circuit which was especially frustrating for Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott. The two Formula 2 drivers were meant to make their official debut during a session in the pinnacle class of motor racing, but they will have to wait for another chance.

Saturday continues at Nürburging

They will not get the opportunities on Saturday, because Antonio Giovinazzi and Romain Grosjean are back. The forecasts suggest it will clear up on Friday evening and the fog will clear during the third and final free practice. Additionally, it will remain dry, which will also be the case in qualifying.

Weather forecast Sunday GP Germany

The improved conditions are expected to extend into Sunday when the Grand Prix is scheduled for 13:10. The chance of a few splashes may be a bit higher, but around the start time it is expected to stay dry at the Nürburgring. It will be cold for the next two days, which makes it difficult for the drivers to get temperature in the tyres.
