Max Verstappen survived the starting phase of the Eifel Grand Prix. The Dutchman saw the two Mercedes drivers coming close together in front of him, but in the end everyone managed to get through the first lap well. Verstappen did have some pressure from Charles Leclerc behind him, but in the end Verstappen managed to hold on to his third place.

Behind him it was already very busy. Alexander Albon fell back one place, while Daniel Ricciardo soon managed to put pressure on Leclerc, who managed to hold on to his fourth place. Behind the top six there are an enormous number of drivers who are within a second of each other. Nico Hulkenberg also had a good start and managed to win three places in the opening lap.
