Wolff thought about Vettel at Mercedes: "I am loyal to my own drivers"

Sebastian Vettel will be driving for Aston Martin in 2021. With this, he puts an end to the era with Ferrari, which ended in disappointment. The German had hoped to win world championships with Ferrari, but in the end, he never succeeded. At Racing Point, the German is looking for new motivation.
According to Toto Wolff, Vettel can also find that motivation at Racing Point. "Every driver should feel good with a team. He needs support from the team and that's what he's going to get with his new team," explains Wolff in Beyond The Grid. The team boss of Mercedes, therefore, expects that the switch from Vettel has been the right choice for the four-time world champion.
Loyal to current drivers
"The momentum is against him at the moment. Once you are in that downward spiral, it is also extremely difficult to get out of it and find your way up. I think he can blossom again at Aston Martin because Aston Martin is a fantastic fire," Wolff says. Ferrari already announced before the start of the season in Austria that Vettel will no longer be driving at Ferrari after 2020.
This also gave rise to rumours that Mercedes could be a possible destination for the German. However, it never came to any real talks, Wolff says. "We have known each other for a long time, but we have never really talked to each other about what is happening on the track," Wolff explains that he remained loyal to his current drivers and therefore there were no negotiations.
"I didn't talk to Seb about that because I knew we didn't have clarity for our drivers yet. I am loyal to Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton," concludes Wolff.
