Despite the fact that Toto Wolff cannot decide on the future of George Russell with the Williams team, he tells Motorsport.com that an exit of the Briton will not be due to a lack of skill.

While British driver Russell has talent to spare, his future with the Williams team has not been confirmed yet. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff was asked for his opinion on a possible exit of the young driver. If Russell is made to leave Williams, he argues, this will not be a skill-based but “a political and commercial decision.”

Wolff: "It all depends on whether Williams' owners decide which way they want to go. We have to respect Williams' independence and its decision-making process.” Nevertheless, Wolff does not worry about Russell’s future with Williams, saying: "I believe he is in a good position."

Perez to Williams?

Rumours have been spreading regarding a possible cooperation between Williams and Sergio Perez next season. Perez is still looking for a seat after he was replaced by Sebastian Vettel to drive for Racing Point/Aston Martin.
