Bottas: "I went over the limit and made a mistake"

Valtteri Bottas could not convert his pole position into a victory at Imola. After a nice fight with Max Verstappen, Bottas came second. Lewis Hamilton was able to win the race in the end, partly due to a favorable virtual safety car.

"I think it made a big difference today," said Bottas after the race about the damage to his floor. "But the start was good and that was the most important thing to do well today."

Fragments ruined the race

"In the second round of turn seven, all of a sudden there were pieces of debris and I didn't have time to dodge it. I saw it and didn't try to drive over it with the tires, but I did have damage which made it harder to drive the car," continued the Mercedes driver.

"I really did everything I could to keep Max behind me, so I went over the limit and made a mistake. Unlucky," concludes Bottas.
