Ricciardo enjoys his third place: "Of course I had to laugh then"

Daniel Ricciardo didn't expect to be on the podium twice in three races. The Australian was lucky enough to be in third place when there were only about fifteen laps to go due to Max Verstappen's blowout.
"As Lewis [Hamilton] said, with the victories, I'm not going to take this for granted," Ricciardo said at the press conference after the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. "It's second in three races, but I'm just as excited as I was at the Nurburgring."
Sneaky laughing in the car
"I feel it was a bit more unexpected. We drove P5 with about fifteen laps to go and then there was the problem with Max that brought out the safety car. I think I drove fourth on the track and then Perez made his pit stop, of course, I had to laugh because I thought 'nice, that gives me third place on the track'," Ricciardo continues. The Renault driver knew it was going to be tough on the track with the hard tyre, but says he loved to fight for it.
"I think Kvyat was the danger in the end and that was very surprising. I didn't know where he came from, but I was told he was on the soft tyres and that he was clearly very strong," concludes Ricciardo, who finds it surreal that he managed to get two podiums in such a short time.
