Since the start of the 2020 season, Mercedes has been driving in a black livery instead of the usual silver one. This to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement. In 2021, Mercedes cars will still be black.

Team boss Toto Wolff recently announced in an interview with the Austrian Motorprofis that Mercedes has no plans to exchange the black livery for the silver livery again.

"Yes, we will also be driving in black in 2021. The black looks great. There will be a lot of new rules in 2022, but we want to remember our heritage with the silver arrows. But the subject of anti-racism remains very important to us," says Wolff.

Return to silver

With this statement, Wolff seems to be hinting at a return to the old color scheme from 2022, partly because of the new rules from that year onwards. The black color scheme of 2020 was an idea of Lewis Hamilton, who is very committed to the BLM movement.
