Mercedes shares in Aston Martin separate from Formula 1

From 2021, Racing Point will run under the name Aston Martin. Toto Wolff has already invested money in Aston Martin and its shares, and at the end of October it was also announced that Mercedes had purchased 20% of its shares.
According to Wolff, however, this purchase will not affect the F1 teams. "Not for the time being, because the Aston Martin F1 team is independent of the car manufacturer itself," explained Mercedes' team boss to Motorsport-Total.com.
"Daimler's involvement is only something that was decided on the basis of the car company and not on the basis of the racing department. So, from my point of view, nothing will change."
The ties between Racing Point and Mercedes are already very strong, as the team have been taking parts from Mercedes for some time now. In 2020, they did so much that they were made suspicious of copying unique parts. In the end they were punished for that and they will have learned their lessons for the future.
