Binotto hopeful 2021 will provide chances to podium

2020 has been a season to forget for Ferrari. However, Mattia Binotto may have cause for optimism as he's believes next year's engine will provide chances to score podium finishes.
Before the season had even began Ferrari were off the pace. Their struggles have flowed through the season and despite some flashes of potential from Charles Leclerc, the team are often left battling for points at best.
"It's going to be very difficult"
The team are currently 32 points behind Renault, in third and Mattia Bintto admitted it will be a challenge to catch them with just four races to go. Speaking to Motorsport-Total he said: "Catching up with a team in the championship would be great, but if you look at Imola you can see that we haven't caught up with anyone. Just the opposite has happened. The fight is very exciting, and the car has certainly improved. We are going to try, our goal is to overtake someone. But there are only four races left to do that, so it's going to be very difficult."
2021 however, will hopefully be a different story. "We'll have a completely new engine which is already doing very well during the tests at the factory. We have ideas for the car, but we can't work miracles with the reduced wind tunnel hours we have. We will certainly take the next step. To compete for the championship is not realistic, but to compete for the podium is our goal."
