Ocon: "It’s no secret that I aim to be up there soon"

Renault is running a strong season. The French team has been improving every race and this is reflected in the results. In the last three races Daniel Ricciardo has managed to score two podiums, although a car from the usual top three had to retire for that. Esteban Ocon hopes that reaching the podium is something he can also achieve this season.
Ricciardo incredibly strong
Ocon praises his teammate, who is achieving increasingly good results in the last races: "I must say, Daniel has been in incredible form. The feeling in Germany when he got the podium meant a lot to the team and to see everyone with a smile on their faces in Parc Ferme meant a lot," says Ocon in his column on F1.com.
"It’s no secret that I aim to be up there soon, and I want to make sure I’m contributing my part to the team effort," Ocon continues. The French driver believes in his own abilities, but due to technical problems with the car, he has only crossed the finish line once in the last three races.
Final result counts
"It’s great to be able to say that we’re third in the championship but, actually, for now, it doesn’t matter so much. It only counts at 7pm on 13 December in Abu Dhabi when the chequered flag comes out. That’s when it matters," concludes Ocon.
