Perez says nothing about contact with Red Bull: "There are still some options"
- GPblog.com
Due to the poor performance of Alexander Albon, the second seat at Red Bull Racing next to Max Verstappen is still a big question. Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg seem to be the most likely candidates to take the place next year next to the Dutchman. Perez is currently in a good rhythm and therefore seems to be in pole position.
However, Perez cannot yet say whether there is news from the Mexican side. “We don't have any news yet, because we still have to wait and see. However, there will soon be clarity," says Perez at the press conference prior to the Turkish Grand Prix, where Motorsport-Total is present.
Sabbatical also an option
"As long as teams have not announced both drivers, there will be options," Perez explains. If Red Bull does choose to go for another driver, the Mexican will keep his cards closed and wait until 2021. "It's already quite late in the season so I'll let you know what happens in the future." However, he still has several options.
"A year's rest is another option, but we just have to see what will happen in the coming weeks. I do want to have clarity soon because then I can start planning." It will probably all depend on whether Red Bull chooses the Mexican.
