Stroll on pole position: "This is the biggest moment in my career"
- GPblog.com
Lance Stroll has just achieved his first pole position in his F1 career. In a crazy qualifying session in Turkey, the Canadian was the fastest after a tense fight with Max Verstappen.
In a rain-ridden Istanbul Park, Stroll managed to set the fastest time. It was an exciting fight between him, his teammate Perez and Max Verstappen. Until the end of the session, there was no decision about tyres, but Stroll suddenly pulled out a 1.47.765 on the intermediate compound.
Shocked
Stroll couldn't believe it himself after the session. "I am shocked. We weren't that competitive in the last training session but I'm so happy now. The last lap went really well. In the end, I only had one lap to do it for the inters. But I had faith in the car and every corner went perfectly. I put the whole lap together well and it is nice to hit back after a few tough weeks.
“This is a special moment for me, one of the biggest of my career," an emotional Stroll concludes. It will certainly be interesting to see what he can do in tomorrow's race.
