"I understand Max's disappointment"

Max Verstappen was quite disappointed after qualifying in Turkey. Stroll took pole, a position Verstappen feels could have been his. Robert Doornbos understood his disappointment.
In a very crazy qualifying session, Lance Stroll managed to take pole position ahead of Verstappen. The Dutchman was quite disappointed about that because he has been setting the pace for most of the weekend. Robert Doornbos said during the aftermath of Ziggo Sport that he understood.
Disappointment
"I understand his disappointment, I can place that. If you are that dominant all weekend and are on top all the time... If you have a four-second margin to the competition, then I understand his frustration. Albon was the one who managed to get the closest. But you should not forget if you switch to intermediates, then the car is really a bit different. Bottas and Hamilton were seven seconds faster than Verstappen at one point. That is of course not really normal. These are special conditions.
"He scored two purple sectors and was then two and a half seconds faster than Perez. That would have been a 49.5, that still wouldn't have been enough for pole. It was a good call. In sector one there was also yellow, maybe it came in at the same time. Those people at the pit wall are there for a reason, they are not just watching qualifying. They are analyzing them. They have to ensure that they can switch quickly and this was such a moment," said the former F1 driver.
